St. Anne’s Rural Women Development Education and Empowerment Programme, (SARWODEEP) a Social Service Unit of Sisters of St. Anne’s Congregation at Periyakulam, Tamilnadu, was started in 1990 with the motto “To Restore the Oppressed People from any form of Depression and Enslavement, which Leads to Peace, Justice and Balanced Development of All” and it provides the social dimension to the educational system and involves the socially consciencetized faculty members and the student volunteers from JAC in the activities of SARWODEEP meant for the target group of rural women, children and deserted women and widows, to liberate them from all kinds of shackles in life and work towards their betterment.
