Mushroom Culture Centre
PG and Research Centre of Zoology started mushroom culture as start-up programme during the academic year 2018 – 2019. Mushroom culture is the self supporting programme. It promises supply of food, rich in proteins, nutrients, vitamins A, B, C and D, Carbohydrate, fibre and mineral salts. It provides opportunities for improving the sustainability of small farming systems through the recycling organic matter which can be used as growing substrate and return to the land as fertilizers. Mushroom production increases self employment. Volunteers from Department of Zoology monitored and maintained the mushroom bed and harvested the yield. The revenue generated by the students can be utilized to support their studies.
