STUDENTS SERVICE LEAGUE AND YOUTH WELFARE & JACSAFA

     Jayaraj Annapackiam College, St. Anne’s Federal Assembly (JACSAFA) is established in the year 2013, to give exposure to the students in democratic governing skills. Student representatives are elected and appointed as the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Home, Finance, Education, Health, Sports, Environment, Women Welfare, Arts & Culture and Transport Ministers of the Youth Parliament. They are entrusted with the responsibilities related to their office.

OBJECTIVES

  • To mould the hearts and minds of the students to become socially responsible
  • To develop leadership quality and personality development through seminars and workshops
  • To exhibit the leadership skills of the students by conducting various competitions

  • To create awareness on various departments of the Parliament and their procedures

ENROLLMENT

One student from each class is enrolled in each JACSAFA department.  Hence 10 students of a class are JACSAFA members.

  • Orientation Programmes for motivating the students towards successful life

  • Special Programmes for leaders (Class representatives, Secretaries and Joint Secretaries of various Clubs / Cells, JACSAFA Leaders) to develop their leadership qualities
  • Periodical meetings in which the Staff Advisors and Student leaders deliver talks on topics relevant to their respective departments of JACSAFA.
  • Workshop on “Financial Education” every year to all the outgoing students (UG and PG) by eminent SEBI certified trainers.
  • Workshop on “First Aid & Disaster Management” by Trainers from Government Hospital and Fire Station.
  • Various competitions to bring out the talents and leadership qualities of the students.
  • Training to JACSAFA volunteers to involve themselves in the day-to-day activities of the College

 

2014 – 2015

  • A one-day workshop on “Leadership and Personality” was organized on 3rd September, 2014. Dr. Fr. Isaac, Principal, Institute of Social Sciences, Anugraha, Nochiodaipatti led the sessions.
  • A programme on “Leadership and Personality Development” was conducted from 5th to 7th September, 2014. Paul Raj, St. Joseph’s College, Trichy and Mr. Lourdhusamy, St. Mary’s School, Dindigul were the Resource Persons.
  • A one-day workshop on “Financial Education” for the outgoing UG and PG students was conducted on 22nd September, 2014. T. Arulvelan, Certified Financial Trainer of Securities and Exchange Board of India, was the Resource Person.
  • Dr. M. Sumathi Bopaiya (Retd.), Bengaluru, delivered a talk on “Motivation, Team building & Success stories” on 7th February, 2015.
  • Arun Nagendran, COE & Associate Professor of Zoology, Thiagarajar College, Madurai, delivered a talk on “Values and worth living” to the outgoing students on 17th February, 2015.

2015 – 2016

  • A one-day workshop on “Leadership Training” was organized on 7th August, 2015. Thirusendhuran, Director, Vision 2020, Tamil Nadu Branch, was the Resource Person.
  • Sr. B. J. Queensly Jeyanthi, Vice Principal & Associate Professor of Commerce, delivered a talk on “Top Ten Qualities of a Successful Person” on 23rd August, 2016.
  • A one-day workshop on “Financial Education” for the outgoing UG and PG students was conducted on 9th February, 2016. Prof. Dr. Chandhra Sekaran, Certified Financial Trainer of Securities and Exchange Board of India, was the Resource Person.
  • A workshop on “First aid & Disaster management” was conducted by Mr. Ganesh Kumar, NABH, Assistant Co-ordinator, Govt. Hospital, Periyakulam, Mr. Sivaraja, Physiotherapist, Govt. Hospital, Periyakulam and Mr. Manoharan, Station Officer, Fire Station, Periyakulam on 23rd February, 2016.

2016 – 2017

  • Fr. S. M. Jeyaseelan, Sivagangai District, delivered a talk on “Hard Work and Perseverance Lead to Success” at the Student Development Programme on 6th August, 2016.
  • Sr. R. Fatima Mary Sylvia, Vice Principal, delivered a talk on “To be an Effective Role Model” in the Special programme for leaders on 8th August, 2016.
  • On 26th September, 2016, motivational talks were given on various topics: “Characteristics of Effective Leader” by Dr. Sr. T. Nirmala, Principal, “Self Discipline makes a Perfect Human” by Dr. M. Arulmozhi, Associate Professor of Physics, “Heed the warning of Global Warming” by Mrs. V. Jemima Florece Borgia, Assistant Professor of Zoology, “Shaping the confidence by Fine Arts” by Ms. A Jerli Auxilia, Assistant Professor of Chemistry and “Steps to lead a Healthy Life” by Mrs. T. Balapandeeswari, Assistant Professor, JAC Community College.
  • SEBI Financial Education Workshop was conducted on 9th March, 2017 for the outgoing students. N. Shunmugarajan, SEBI Financial Education Trainer & Director of MBA, NMSSVN College, Madurai, delivered a talk on “Financial Planning for Young Investors”.

2017 – 2018

  • In the Special Programme for leaders (Class Representatives and JACSAFA Leaders) on 27.07.2017 at St. Joachim Open Auditorium, Dr. Sr. R. Fatima Mary Sylvia, Dr. Mrs. Arockiam Thaddeus, Vice Principals, and Dr. Mrs. M. Arulmozhi, JACSAFA Member Secretary, delivered talks on “Leadership and Personality Development”, “Characteristics of an Effective Leader” and “Role of JACSAFA” respectively.
  • In accordance with “Joy of giving week celebrations – Daan Utsav”,”Thaatha Paati Kuzhu” volunteers of JACSAFA visited the Old Age Home – the Power House on 07.10.2017 to spend their time with the elders and get blessings from them.
  • Volunteers of JACSAFA met the mentally challenged (differently abled) children of St. Anne’s Day Star, to share their snacks and lunch with them, on 08.10.2017.

2018 – 2019

  • JACSAFA gave demonstration on “How to Open IOB Net Banking” on 2nd August 2018, in the Indoor Auditorium. All the students were benefited by the programme.
  • Students witnessed the demonstration on “How to pay the examination fee by online” on 16th August 2018, in the indoor Auditorium of JAC
  • Debate was conducted on the themeவாழ்க்கைக்கு வழிகாட்டுவது, புதுமையா? பழமையா? ” on  3rd September 2018. Selvi. R. Megavarshini II B Sc. Zoology (R), Selvi. P. Iswariya II B Sc Zoology (R), Selvi. M. Kowsalya, II B Sc. Zoology (R), won the I Prize and Selvi. P. Karthiga Devi, II B Sc. Zoology (R), Selvi. R. Vajithra, II B Sc. Zoology (R), Selvi. G. Sheela Santhini, II B. Sc. Zoology (R) won the II Prize.
  • Sr. Irudaya Lourdu Gladis, Dr. (Mrs). Jemima Florence Borgia and Dr. Sr. Arul Sunila disseminated on “Role of JACSAFA”, “Leadership and Personality Development” and “Characteristics of an effective leader” respectively on 5th October 2018 at the St. Joachim open Auditorium to the members of JACSAFA.
  • Sr. A. Irudaya Lourdu Gladis, delivered a talk on ‘How to be an Effective Role Model in the Society’ for the members of JACSAFA on 6th February 2019.
  • J. A. D. Samuel, Director of Petra Service Mission, Kovilpatti, delivered a motivational talk on ‘Victory is mine’ to all the JACSAFA members on 13th February 2019 in Ave Maria Hall.
  • Essay writing, verse writing, paper presentation and drawing competitions were conducted on 19th February 2019.

2019 – 2020

  • After the Union Inauguration the ministers were elected and the members were enrolled in the month of August
  • Orientation was given by the Coordinator Dr. Ubaharamary on 18th September 2019 to the members in Room No 1
  • The members maintained discipline during the Holistic Development Programme from 19th to 21st September 2019
  • The members welcomed the Vice Chancellor and Maintained discipline during the Convocation held on December 2nd 2019
  • The members visited the Day care centre for the Disabled children on 13th December 2019
  • The members Assisted  the Disabled children during the celebration of World Disabled day on 16th December 2019
  • The members maintaining discipline during the lunch hours to keep the environment clean.
  • A one day Workshop was organized on Enriching Leadership Qualities in Students  on 5th February 2020. Rev. Fr. Dr. Yesu Karunanithi, Professor, St.Paul  Seminary, Trichy,  delivered a lecture on the qualities of the leaders, and in what way the students should develop their leadership qualities. He enlightened the students on current events and equipped them to face the problems through video clippings. In the afternoon session, the students were engaged in Group Discussion. He also trained the students with some games and encouraged them to become good leaders.

All the JACSAFA members  should maintain discipline in the Auditorium during common functions.

In addition to this  they are involved in checking temperature of the students, whether they are wearing mask and sanitize them while they are entering the college campus in the morning for three days in a week.

2021-2022

10 students from each UG class are selected as JACSAFA members. JACSAFA students maintained utmost cleanliness and discipline, confining themselves to the rules & regulations laid by the club. All the JACSAFA members enforce discipline in the Auditorium during common functions. 10 students from each class are selected

JACSAFA students are responsible for maintaining discipline on campus. The following department is asked to take responsibility for enforcing discipline and decorum in the institution in the following days:

Students from the respective department line up in the above-mentioned order in front of the college gate in the morning to assist with parking and bus and auto stoppings, which facilitates the quick and easy movement of traffic near the campus.

Each JACSAFA student is obligated to take charge of their classmates to support their progress and academic advancement to acquire leadership qualities. They also take on the role of counselors for a group of students in their class.

The periodical meeting was conducted for the members. Conducted a discussion among students to create social awareness and how to solve social problems. JACSAFA students gave their active participation in the group discussion and they shared their views and ideas for it. It helped to improve their leadership quality.

2023-2024

  1. JACSAFA organised a special guest lecture on “Lead with impact Mastering Crucial Leadership Skills” in St. Anne’s auditorium, on  20thDecember, 2023.  Sr. Dr. J. Jesurani, Principal,JAC,served as a resource person. Sister deliver a powerful message on the significance ofteamwork in achieving collective goals.
  2. On 12.01.2024, a team of JACSAFA volunteerscelebrated Pongal Festival along with Powerhouse (Aged Home) Sisters.Students gave Cultural Program based on Pongal Festival and gave the Snacksand fruits to the Aged Sisters.
  3. A Special programme on “First Aid Awareness” was held on 03.02.2024. S. Nithya, Faculty of Health Care explained about First Aid, Basic life support, Cardiac Arrest Management. She also explained causes, types, risk factors of Cardiac Arrest, dog bite, Snake bite, Fainting, chocking, Nose bleed and told tips of First Aid. She also talked about Health and Menstrual hygiene.
  4. JACSAFA students are responsible for maintaining discipline in the campus. The following department are asked to take responsibility for enforcing discipline and decorum in the institution in the following days:

  • The students understood the importance of democratic principles, owing to the form and functioning of the club, and got to know the Parliamentary set up.
  • Students maintained utmost cleanliness and discipline, confining themselves to the rules & regulations laid by the club.
  • Students become aware of the scholarship and various schemes available for them and made use of them.
  • Students gave their active participation in cultural & other extracurricular activities.

2016-2017

  • JACSAFA functions with the motto “Students today, Leaders tomorrow”. Hence all the activities are planned and executed by the leaders of each JACSAFA department with their group members under the guidance of the Staff advisors.
  • Leadership qualities in the students are developed and enhanced by the talks and lectures delivered by the resource persons in and outside the College.
  • Talks delivered by students on the topics related to their departments increased the self confidence and removed the stage fear in them.
  • Workshop on Finance Education by Trainer from SEBI enabled the students to plan and effectively handle money now and in future.

 

2017-2018

  • All the activities are planned and executed by the members of JACSAFA, it helps to develop their Leadership qualities.
  • The talks and lectures delivered by the resource persons enhance their responsibilities in the society.
  • Students were made aware of the problems and challenges of Old age people and mentally retarded children by the visits to their homes, in accordance with “Joy of giving week” programme.
  • Habit of sharing with others and experiencing the joy of giving was inculcated in the students
  • Competitions like oratorical, essay, just-a-minute and debate on current topics brought out the innate talents in the students and made them updated in the issues taking place in the world around.

2018-2019

  • Leadership qualities in the students are developed and enhanced by the talks and lectures delivered by the resource persons in and outside the College.
  • Students become aware of the scholarship and various schemes available for them and made use of them.
  • Competitions like oratorical, essay, just-a-minute and debate on current topics brought out the innate talents in the students and made them updated in the issues taking place in the world around.
  • JACSAFA Students were benefited through their activities made by the club

 

2019-2020

  • Leadership qualities in the members were developed and enhanced by the lecture delivered by the resource person Rev. Fr. Dr. Yesu Karunanithi, Professor, St. Paul Seminary, Trichy.
  • Members also attained Situation handling skills, by undertaking various responsibilities through the club.
  • The members realized the value of life and learnt to volunteer to help many more disabled children.
  • The college campus became very clean with fresh environment due to the efforts of the members.
  • JACSAFA Students were benefited through their activities made by JACSAFA.

2020-2021

    • The Ministers were selected and the volunteers were enrolled
    • Orientation was given to the volunteers
    • JACSAFA Members Served as Volunteers during the NAAC visit
    • The members realized the value of life and learnt to volunteer to help the People during Covid – 19
    • All the JACSAFA members maintained discipline in the Auditorium during common functions.
    • They are involved in checking temperature of the students and whether they are wearing mask
    • Sanitize the students while entering the college campus in the morning for three days in a week.
    • JACSAFA members were benefited through their activities made by JACSAFA.

2021- 2022

      • The ministers for the following departments Home Department, Fine Arts Department, Education Department, Sports and Games Department, Environment, Transport, Health, Women’s welfare Department, Communication & Information Department and Finance Department were selected and the volunteers were enrolled.
      • A guest lecture on LEADERSHIP QUALITY was organised on March 3, 2022. Rev.Fr. Adaikala Raj, Assistant Parish Priest, Theni, served as a resource person.
      • The awareness program was conducted with demonstration on the theme “FIRST AID-BEST AID” on 21 March, 2022. Sr. Jenita Josephine, GNM, Nurse, S. Nithya, B.Sc., Nursing Faculty of Healthcare, A. Renganayaki, Faculty of Healthcare and M. Deepa, Faculty of Healthcare served as resource persons. They demonstrated initial intervention in a serious condition before professional medical help is available.
      • Volunteers sanitize the students while entering the college campus in the morning.
      • All the JACSAFA members should maintain discipline in the Auditorium during common functions.

2022- 2023

 

Development of leadership skills among students in an integral part of education. JACSAFA organized a guest lecture on “LEADERSHIP QUALITY March 3, 2022 in the Indoor Auditorium. Rev.Fr. Adaikala Raj, Assistant Parish Priest, Theni, served as a resource person. He gave an inspirational talk on major aspects and significance of leadership. He also explained the principle role of leaders, behaviour and attitude of trustworthy leaders, personal traits of leaders and interpersonal skills of leaders through eagle characteristics. He also covered the essential skills like Strategic Thinking, Planning and Delivery, People Management, Change Management, and Communication that a leader should possess. 400 students benefited through this meeting.
JACSAFA organized an awareness program with demonstration on the theme “FIRST AID-BEST AID” on 21 March, 2022. Sr. Jenita Josephine, GNM, Nurse, S. Nithya, B.Sc., Nursing Faculty of Healthcare, A. Renganayaki, Faculty of Healthcare and M. Deepa, Faculty of Healthcare served as resource persons. They demonstrated initial intervention in a serious condition before professional medical help is available. 70 students benefitted by attending this training.
In addition to this, every Wednesday and Thursday JACSAFA students regularly check
and monitor the temperature of the all students in the morning in front of the college gate.
