Bachelor of Computer Applications

PROFILE

To foster excellence in computing education, Jayaraj Annapackiam College for Women (Autonomous), Periyakulam, introduced the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programme in the academic year 2023–2024. The department was formally inaugurated on 04 July 2023 with an initial intake of 34 students. Dr. Sr. A. Arul Anitha, M.C.A., Ph.D., NET, was appointed as the first Head of the Department, and Mrs. A. Anusuya Banu joined as Assistant Professor.

The department functions under the guiding motto EEE – Empower Young Minds, Embrace Technology, and Excel in Innovation. At present, the department has five dynamic faculty members and a growing student strength of 78. The faculty are deeply committed to academic excellence while nurturing students to become technically proficient, ethically grounded, emotionally resilient, and socially responsible professionals.

The BCA programme is designed to provide industry-relevant, high-quality education aligned with contemporary and emerging trends in computing. The programme spans three years across six semesters, offering 140 credits under the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework. From the academic year 2027–2028 onwards, the department will adopt the Learning Outcomes-based Curriculum Framework (LOCF), further strengthening student-centric learning, employability, skill development, and outcome attainment. The curriculum balances strong theoretical foundations with extensive practical exposure, preparing students to meet the challenges of the rapidly evolving technology landscape.
