Department of History
PROFILE
JAC started B.A History, as the first and foremost faculty in 1971. Due to the demand from the public, in 1975 Tamil Medium was started. From its very inception the department begin to spread its fragrance of service to the student’s society. The strength of the Department had steadily increased that led to the introduction of M.A History in 1980. Today the Department has completed 50 years of dedicated service to the student community. To cater to the needs of the students Certificate course in Tourism was introduced in July, 2003 and Human Rights and Duties Education in July 2010. The Department was elevated to a Research Department with the introduction of M.Phil. in 2005 and Ph.D. in 2013. The Members of the Teaching Staff actively involved in Research. During the course of 50 years the Department has attained a number of Distinctions in Curricular, Co-Curricular and extra Curricular activities. Apart from the academic excellence, the students of History have brought many laurels to the Department and the College. The Department has kept abreast of itself with the expanding Knowledge through Research and Extension. The Department has well equipped teaching aids such as LCD, OHP, LAPTOP,PRINTER,VISUALIZER and INTERACTIVE BOARD.

To transfer skills, employability and intellectual curiosity along with public awareness about the past and its legacies through teaching, research and service activities to students for producing meritorious historians driven by hard work.
